  1. I have to say that this series was put together very well and extremely non biased.

Some of the comments on previous videos claimed that this was a proselytization attempt by Sal but it's very obvious that it's simply educational content based around historical events.

In today's society, its more crucial than ever to educate the people on what Islam is and to discourage blindly following the media.

    Good work, Sal.

  2. So (correct me if I'm wrong) Trump banning Muslims from the country gives Muslims a reason validated by the Quran to fight and kill Americans? I do not support Trump's policy on immigration at all, but if Muslims kill Americans that would definitely start a war.

Edit: and if Muslims (however extreme they may be) were to kill Americans for this reason, they would still be mistaken to believe Americans do not welcome them to the country. It is Trump and only some of his supporters who want Muslims to be gone. The rest of us are ok with Muslims coming here.

  3. Islam was a Gift from God to Gabriel to Muhammad Humanity.
Even Jesus/ISA told Pilot about his ARMY OF GOD. Jesus even denied PETER to fight for him. Understand.?
Islam is the Army of GOD and even Islam sees Jesus/ISA as their general.! "THAT IS ISLAM". From my practice in Islam.
Christians can NOT WAR, So Islam will WAR for them, TO PROTECT THEM.
Point is, Islam are born and raised to fight for god. It is the Christians fault for miss leading them, (Christians are Islam Generals) Miss leading them to beheadings.!!
Teach Islam about ISA/JESUS.!! Its NOT complicated.!!
Its up to the Christians to point to the front line. European front line is ISIS, NATO IS ISIS/ISIL.
    True or false. ??

  4. Actually Islam never call for violence and Isis is just a group of murderers just like what Adolf Hitler did it just changed name and places

  5. i thought people in this comment sec is civilized people.
    i geuss not.
there is a lot of hate.
    peace….to ur unpeaceful heart.

  6. for all the Muslims visiting this comment section..
    Don't reply to hateful people..
because hate comes from ignorance.. and you can't have a proper conversation with an ignorant person.

  7. How much did Muslims pay you to make these videos, Sal? The timing and bias in this video and the others is not a coincidence.

  8. And people consider this revelation? How come an instinctive response of killing in defence(in all animals) be a revelation? Had it been spiritual it would have taught some smart ways to avoid violence(violence is cyclic) and not perpetuate it..

  9. Very interesting and unbiased point view of Islam, displaying the both sides of the history and quote other sources as many seem to simply consider any thing related to islam "Biased/False" . History is highly debate able subject but to completely deny a major part of human history just because the term "Islamic Tradition" is there is simply idiotic and ignorant.

  10. God made his correct religion clear for people who search the truth. Islam will not get (neither seeking) "thumbs up" from today's or earlier arrogants.

  11. all these people saying they're proud to believe in magical beings and I'm just sitting here wondering how you take them seriously as adults.

  12. This series is just amazing. It is unbiased and gives you the facts which is exactly what I am looking for. Great job Sal and may God bless you!

  13. To understand the policies of Islam, just read the Koran. Might change your opinion and line up with more what you actually see today. . . .

  14. extremely good video. thank you, sal. sorry if there's many hateful muslims commenting here. i as a muslim really appreciate your contents.

  15. I have learnt so much from Khan Academy. The advice is to stop being emotional, prejudiced, and learn to appreciate his work. I am just happy to learn so much about the world from him. The good part is, he even teaches how to learn, asks you to probe, compare and be critical/questioning

  16. This turned into a sermon real quick. I was onboard until you started reciting scripture and trying to justify the negative image towards Islam. Just feels like propaganda not s history segment. I usually love your balanced views and videos…I'm not gonna stop watching but the bias here is a little strong.

  17. So had the Muslim kings not conquered these regions, would these regions still be pre dominantly Christian and whatever the religion they were?

  18. You are truly doing God's work. I have always wanted an in depth condensed story Islam. Thank you so much.

  19. Fight them if they fight you means only in self defense.
Here is just a few of verses you must have overlooked in your bible about fighting and killing for Christianity.
    Mathew 10:24
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword
    Luke 19:27
But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.’
    Deuteronomy 17:1-20
    2 Chronicles 15:12-13
    Leviticus 20:27
    1 Samuel 15:2-3
    Deuteronomy 17:12
    Deuteronomy 17:2-5
    Exodus 21:15
    Hosea 13:16
    Exodus 22:20

  20. I lam liking the videos. You should provide more resources to understand the interpretation of Quran (a highly complex text) where you are asking to use own judgment. Thank you for putting this together.

  21. In the Qr`an Allah says (the one who kills someone unlawfully(and the second one (who had been killed) is not a murderer and the second one did not make a corruption to people or things that live on the earth. the killer is considered as he would have killed all the human race.

  24. at 11:15 because old testament was better preserved than new testament . Most of new testament is forgery and and writings of men mostly not even words of Jesus (pbuh) . They dont even have something like authentic compilation of hadits that Muslims have forget about entirely complete words of God like Quran

  25. All your videos about this topic were so good they actually helped me a lot thank you so much without being bias you explained everything which I was looking for

  26. To all those that state that the video is biased and untrue know that the narrator is Muslim otherwise he would just refer to rasoolallah (saw) pbuh as "Muhammad "

  27. All Muslims believe that everyone including the prophet Muhammad has been touched by the devil and are sinners except Jesus Christ and His mother. Therefore, whatever Jesus Christ said is True and not a lie.

    Jesus Christ said:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". (John 14:6)

" The Father and I are one ".

    (John chapter 10:30).

"Whoever has seen me has seen the Father".

    (John chapter 14:9)

  28. Hello muslims, don't involve yourselves with the hateful comments. Just, stay cool, humble, and be grateful for this beautiful religion. Peace and good manner are teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

  29. There is no such a thing in islam, be a muslim or die!!
Allah says is Quran لا إكراه في الدين
(there is no obligation in religion)

So, how islam spread so fast?
You will know why if you read about islam from it's references, and about the history of people that being ruled by romans before islam came to them, and how muslim treat them at that time

For whom says "proud to be Christian", i am feeling sorry for you 😔

  30. 4:55 Why seek knowledge from peaceful-people who worships idols? Didn't the early merchants also went to India?

  31. After watching the video, I read the comments suggesting this video is biased.

Here is why people are saying the video is biased. Khan is attempting to show both sides of the argument for Muslim violence. When doing this, the best of both sides should be taken. When presenting the side advocating that the Quran teaches violence though, he took their weakest point, which most people I know would not even use in an argument because of the clear context of the verse. This does a disservice to them. You take the best point of one side, then you take the weakest point of the other and you spend 2 of your 12 minutes refuting that weak point. That's why people think you are biased.

So, I agree, either he is ignorant of the actual argument that people make against the Quran in terms of it's violence (which I doubt), or he is biased attempting to make Islam seem more peaceful than it is.

Let me explain more of what the other side says. The second to last surah to be revealed to Muhammad was Surah 9, At-Taubah. In this Surah, there is justified violence against "polytheists" unless they convert or request protection where you will teach them about Islam. He claims that any treaties made with them can be kept unless they break these treaties, but afterwards they should be killed everywhere they are. Over and over again in Surah 9 he refers to them as unbelievers or polytheists and advocates killing them until they repent, establish prayer, and give zakah (eg. become a Muslim) or in the case that they willingly pay the Jiyza (non-believer tax) and feel subdued. This was a later revelation by Muhammad, surpassing any previous revelations such as the peaceful ones mentioned in the video which applied during the time that Muhammad and his followers were minorities.

He also quotes from Muhammads Farewell Sermon. That quote is meant for Muslims as Muhammad says immediately after "Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood." He also shows that there is superiority between peoples piety even within Islam.

As Allah says in the Quran, those who disbelieve are the worst of creatures (98:6) and those who believe are the best of creatures (98:7).

As for the Dhimmi status you can check Surah 9:29 where it says "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

So you fight them until they pay Jizya and feel subdued. This was the tax for non-believers. Now let's look at the hadiths:

Sahih Muslim, Book 19, Hadith 4294
"If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them."

Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 53, Hadith 386 (Umar talking to the great countries of pagans)
"Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, has ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah Alone or give Jizya (i.e. tribute)"

Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 33 (Umar)
"I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and they establish prayer, and pay Zakat"

Now let's look at the best jihad:
    Sunan Ibn Majah (2794)
It was narrated that ‘Amr bin ‘Abasah said:
“I came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which Jihad is best?’ He said: ‘(That of a man) whose blood is shed and his horse is wounded.’”

Some will say, wait wait, but other hadiths say the best jihad is just a word spoken to an unjust ruler. Yeah? Which of the hadiths is more authentic? Because the one I quoted is Sahih, and the one they quote is Hasan.

Islam is not that hard to understand guys. If you stop trying to 20th century this religion you can really figure out quickly why Islam was able to expand so fast.

Let's also keep in mind that if you are not Muslim and a Muslim conquers your city and takes away your wife captive, she can become his sexual toy.

Sahih Muslim Book 8 Hadith 3432
At the Battle of Hanain Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him) sent an army to Autas and encountered the enemy and fought with them. Having overcome them and taken them captives, the Companions of Allah's Messenger (may peace te upon him) seemed to refrain from having intercourse with captive women because of their husbands being polytheists. Then Allah, Most High, sent down regarding that:" And women already married, except those whom your right hands possess (iv. 24)" (i. e. they were lawful for them when their 'Idda period came to an end).

You hear that? Women already married are unlawful. Well, except for slaves (those whom your right hands possess). This is not talking about dead husbands as that has never been up for debate. This is talking about women who are currently married and their husband is alive. It's unlawful, unless you possess them. All the first caliphs and followers of Islam believed and practiced this. Some though thought that if both the husband and wife were slaves together then the marriage counted, however then they simply would separate them and have their way with their wives.

If you become Muslim though… they can't take your wife as a slave. Let me ask how many men would allow some sweaty Arabs on camels who just overthrew your city to come in and take your wife to be his sexual slave unless she gets pregnant in which case he has to marry her as in the case between Muhammad and his slave girl Mariam? I bet not too many. I could imagine quite a few conquered peoples accepting Islam in order to not be 2nd classes citizens and have their wives delivered up as war booty to their Muslim enemies.

Now let's look at it from the other side too. You can be a Christian with a single wife, or a Muslim with 4 wives and as many sex slaves as you want. Not only that but if you go to battle with the armies of Islam you have the opportunity to gain not only wealth from shared winnings but also sexual slaves. Of course this will be appealing to a large majority of men. And your wives cannot complain about you sleeping with your sex slaves, because Allah revealed that in the Quran very clearly that no one should forbid what Allah has allowed.

  32. The lecturer makes reference at 11:50 to the Bible being written in Aramaic. My understanding is that the Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek. Overall, good encapsulation of Islam.

  33. Might I suggest looking into Malcolm X's speeches. “We are nonviolent with people who are nonviolent with us.” Plenty of stuff to find on youtube.

  34. FOR MUSLUMS VISITING THIS COMMENT SECTION..

Don't reply to hateful people, because hate comes from ignorance and you can't have a proper conversation with an ignorant person.

  35. Get a pop filter and you breath to heavy, the info was great but your to close to the mic and with headphones on it sounds like im hearing this all while sitting in your mouth and after every breath you take i can hear you getting winded, take shorter sentences.

  36. In Iberia, the muslims never occupied north of the miño river and cantabrian mountains, and Iria Flavia was a bishopric of Asturias in 750, so that map is a bit wrong in northern Spain.

  37. The contrasting verses must be understood in a political context . While in Mecca, Muhammed was a regular preacher surrounded by powerful tribesmen . It made sense to preach peace so as to avoid any trouble. But once he had established himself as a military ruler in Medina , he introduced verses that were more politically oriented . He was more confident and no longer feared persecution by the Quraysh.

  38. Zazia tax(tax on infedls) was a major reason for conversion of poor hindus to islam along with forceful conversions wherever muslims became a majority and willful conversion of "low caste" hindus to escape caste discrimination….

  39. I went through many comments but in broad picture one has to study complete religion after that he may reach on the conclusion and he can explain clearly about that. I am telling this about all religion. if some body read only a portion with out connection of that portion with other chapters. He/She cannot reach on the conclusion. Therefore, we should respect each other beliefs. If some one want to criticize others religion. He should study complete religion and than he should give his opinion. which will be based on his knowledge. All religions has some links with each other. Specially Jewish , christian and Islamic religion has too many things in common.

  40. Came here after a christian told me that The Prophet (pbuh) commited massive genocides against christians. 632 is the answer. Thank you, great video

  41. Well…today, many have seemed to forget Mohammeds farewell sermon. And the Dhimmi non existent. Today Muslims claim everything is persecution !! Persecution is merely questioning anything. There is no civil discourse possible with so many.

  42. That was a great amazing series of videos. It was clear, and filled with amazing facts. Allah is the greatest.

  43. how is it this Video does not mention one of the first places the spread of Islam took place East Africa i.e Somalia,Ethiopia & Eratria (Abyssinia) when are beloved Prophet Muhammad Salallah calyhu waa sallam told his Companions to seek refuge with King Najjash.

  44. In Parts 1 & 2 of this series, I was quite impressed by (and thankful for) your objective and informative presentation of the early days of the spread of Islam. However, your dwelling on the admittedly ambiguous terminology of Surah 2:190-193 made you sound a bit like a Muslim apologist, sorry. Please keep in mind that Surah 2 is the just the first of 28 Medinan surahs — and it is followed by numerous other surahs which are not ambiguous at all when it comes to the non-self-defensive nature of physically violent jihad. I would recommend that you and interested viewers also read Surahs 8, 3, 33, 4, 57, 47, 66, 61, 58 and (last but not least) Surahs 5 and 9. In Surah 33, for example, we find these charming words from Allah to His faithful believers: "And He brought down those who supported them among the People of the Scripture from their fortresses and cast terror into their hearts [so that] a party you killed, and you took captive a party. And He caused you to inherit their land and their homes and their properties and a land which you have not trodden."

  45. Nice work, very unbiased. Islam is a peaceful religion. Those surahs you quoted in regards to killing is clearly in the context of selfdefence against an enemy who is persecuting you and killing you. Even then when the Muslims conquered Makkah finally they did not kill the non muslims like the crusaders did. The only reasons why Islam spread so fast and is spreading today is because if you really follow the teachings you will find happiness and success. Just look at the economic teachings of the Quran, it would solve a lot of problems! Just curious if you are a Muslim yourself or believe in god? Thanks

  46. I would like to add, if it is not yet known, that in islam, we can not take what is written in quran based on translation. we need to have knowledges of arabian language and historical knowledge to understand it's true meaning. that also applies to haditses

  47. The map should be alot bigger in north and east Africa. The first muslims settled in East Africa and the community grew up there before islam reached sout Asia nd far east

  48. I must share my gratitude with you for making such a video with befitting facts for suitable comprehension. However there is one thing and that is a fact"Muslims are not given the power to change even a single word of what was transcended 1400 years back on the Prophet Mohammad(Peace be upon Him) ,as to remove any ambiguity of was and is" Quran is the word of Allah and in Quran ,Allah mentions to safeguard it by HIMSELF.And so we see after this long years it is safe. Yes about translations -it is easy to translate as the language it was originally in,is ARABIC and its pretty much alive and hence one may possibly read Arabic and he would easily find meanings of translation.Unlike Bible which is not safe guarded and was in a language Aramece which divided into Hebrew and the modern Greek. So one reason one is optionless to read the language if even he has the original bible(which by the facts is no more available in original form). To say,the NASB(New American Standard Bible 1960)-the last bible authentic version was released in 1960 and then again in 1995.So yes it do gives a mark difference in the application of knowledge found from these two books or to say few more also from the past era ,and thats why few are catholic and some are protestants and still more the J ews also follow their Torah or HALAKAH and have similar slight modifications in each scripture. Now In this case QURAN is a Holy Book which is unchanged(the first ever and the today's Quran are same in every way-not a single word is modified) since it was first revealed in arabic and the language is also 5th ; the most spoken in the world. And thats why once any person who is in the desire of learning "who is he" and "who is GOD" and "what is happening inside our heart" , get close to this Quran, and yes this does help him more than the other scriptures as it has discussed everything of today's world in its entirety while still being in 14th century – and thats what concluded ; It is a miracle to be unchanged in this world-where everything is infected with time.So we all can use this fact for our comprehension as well.Thankyou
