NEW TONIGHT– A COMMUNITY GATHERS TO REMEMBER THE CITY’S LATEST HOMICIDE VICTIM. TWENTY-SEVEN YEAR OLD SHANE MCKINLEY WAS STABBED AT THIS BOARDING HOUSE AT 22ND AND ‘N’. HE LATER DIED. MCKINLEY’S FATHER WAS THERE AS FIRST RESPONDERS PRAYED FOR HIS FAMILY. ORGANIZERS SAY VIOLENCE IS A CITYWIDE PROBLEM AND NOT CONFINED TO SOME NEIGHBOR HOODS. “WHEN PEOPLE ACCEPT THAT THIS IS AN OMAHA PROBLEM, HOPEFULLY WE’LL HAVE MORE PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER AND MORE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY FROM WEST OMAHA, NORTH, SOUTH, EAST ALL COME TOGETHER AND HELP BE A SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS GOING ON ON OUR STREETS.” THE HOPE IS THAT MORE PEOPLE WORK WITH POLICE AND TELL THEM WHAT THEY KNOW.
