Headspace | Meditation | Underlying Calm

Take a moment to imagine a bright blue sky stretching off into the distance. Feels pretty good, right? This is a perfect metaphor for the mind. A blank canvas on which thoughts, feelings and experiences appear. Okay, so maybe there are just a few clouds but they tend not to bother us or distract us too much. Especially if they’re the cute little fluffy variety. This is how the mind appears when it’s calm, bright, serene and happy. But life isn’t always easy. Sometimes there are a lot more clouds in the sky. Sometimes they might be the dark and stormy variety. Occasionally, we might even begin to wonder if a hurricane is on the way. It gets to the point that it’s hard to think of anything else. In fact, sometimes, we get so obsessed by the clouds that we forget about the blue sky altogether. But it’s still there. Every time you’re in a plane and you fly through the clouds there it is, without fail – blue sky. It’s easy to forget but what we’re looking for is already here. And that’s why we need reminding.

  1. I like that feeling when you’re in an aeroplane and you fly above the clouds and the blue sky welcomes you.

  2. “And that’s why we need reminding.”

    Hm that’s weird I could’ve sworn I clicked on Headspace, not Remind.com

  3. This is almost escapcing materialistic reality i am actually gonna subscribe it i feel good with the app everytime i meditate i love headspace

  4. I found the sound of the wind ,when the plane was flying, strangely calming lol is there anywhere I can get a loop of that sound to calm my nerves

  5. I'm to anxieic too lazy to all of the above to bother with meditation even though I have a lot of free time
    Any recommendations

  6. I wasn't really into meditation at all and I had a lot of stress and anxiety since I have used this app and listened to the soothing voice I'm no longer stressed and whenever I am i sit on my own at peace with the world and happy thank you for a feeling I've never had

  7. At the end she should be dead because base on how the plane looks to be as cruising altitude which is 50,000 ft the oxygen would be thin enough for her and that squirrel to die of a lack of oxygen

  9. Tip: Don't Run, Face it. It'll be normal thing with the time… and it won't bother you again 😊

  10. The clouds in the sky reminded me of the thoughts in our mind. When there are few thoughts, we're happy. When there are too many thoughts, we get overwhelmed & worried. So, we should not overthink and keep it simple.

  11. I used to think that "we are not our thoughts" was just denial, and although I've been good at being positive for a while, I would always have a nagging feeling that I was just ignoring negativity until I couldn't anymore, and then it would blow up on me. When I saw this video for the first time this year, everything clicked. I finally understood why all those things about the mind being at ease were true. Thank you. If anyone takes just one thing away from using anything from Headspace at all, I think it should be this video. Everyone needs to see this.

  12. I guess I'm childlike and predictable enough that having the squirrel survive the hurricane and make a reappearance, made me smile! Thanks.
