Are Christians Obligated to Keep the Law of Moses? | Little Lessons with David Servant

Are Christians obligated to keep the Law of
Moses? Hi, welcome to Little Lessons. This is a great question we have today, “Are
Christians obligated to keep the Law of Moses?” The answer to that question is, “Yes and no.” I’m going to explain what I mean by that in
the next few minutes. There’s three, and only three, codified laws
that God has ever given to groups of people upon this Earth, and the very first one, we
could refer to it as, “The Law of Conscience.” That is, God has given every human being a
conscience that tells them when they’re doing right or wrong. The basic Law of Conscience is to treat other
people like you want to be treated. That’s what we call the Golden Rule. Within that, of course, it incorporates, “Thou
shalt not steal,” which is one of the 10 Commandments, but under the Mosaic Law, but that’s also
in the Law of Conscience. Everyone who has ever lived, has known it’s
wrong to steal, because you’re not treating other people like you want to be treated. Everyone who’s ever lived has known it’s wrong
to lie. When they tell a lie, something in their heart
says, “Oh no, you ought not to be telling that lie, because you don’t like it when people
lie to you. You’re not treating them like you want to
be treated.” Everybody who’s ever lived has known it’s
wrong to murder another person, because that’s not how I want to be treated. I don’t want to be murdered. Everyone’s always known it’s wrong to commit
adultery, because that’s not how they want their spouse to be treated, or their future
spouse to be treated. This is a very sacred thing between a husband
and a wife, and it should be preserved, okay? That’s the Law of Conscience. Paul talks about the Law of Conscience in
his defense of the gospel, in his epistle to the Romans. Early on, in Chapter 2, he makes reference
to that Law of Conscience. I’m going to read it to you from Romans, Chapter
2, in Verse number 14. Listen. He said, “For when gentiles who do not have
the law …” obviously speaking about the Law of Moses, “Do instinctively the things
of the law …” Now, no gentiles are doing instinctively the ceremonial things of the
law, they’re doing instinctively the moral things of the law. Paul says, “When they instinctively do the
things of the law, these …” These gentiles, “Not having the Law of Moses, are a law to
themselves.” So they do have a law, in that they show the
work of the law written in their hearts. Their conscience bearing witness, and their
thoughts alternatively accusing or else defending them, okay? It’s often described [inaudible 00:02:46]
as a little angel on one shoulder, the little demon on the other shoulder, you know? Really, that’s going on in the heart. It’s the conscience that God gave every single
person. They’ll have to give an account one day, because
he gave them that law. He expects them to abide by that law. Of course, everybody transgressed that law,
and thank God for Jesus. He makes a way for us to be forgiven of our
sins, and to begin obeying that Law of Conscience. All right. Now, the second codified law, the second set
of laws that God has ever given out of a total of three, is called the Law of Moses. It’s not a singular law, it’s all the laws
that God gave through Moses. I think about 613 of them. Somebody counted them one time. Guess what? Within the Law of Moses, is also included
the Law of Conscience. Sure, even in the 10 Commandments you see
basic moral requirements; don’t murder, don’t steal, don’t lie, so don’t commit adultery. These are basic, basic moral things, all in
the Law of Conscience, but also of course, included in the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses, there were a lot of things
that had nothing to do with morality. They were ceremonial things, there were … of
course they had Levitical priesthoods, there’s all kinds of regulations there. They were a political nation, so there was
civil law included within the Law of Moses. A whole, whole lot of stuff. God only gave that law to a very limited number
of people. Guess who? The descendants of Israel after God delivered
them out of Egyptian bondage. He only gave it to those limited number of
people for a limited amount of time, until the promised Messiah should come. When Jesus died on the cross with the sins
of the world, and the curtain in the temple was ripped in half, that was essentially the
end of the Old Covenant, even though people kept keeping it, because for the lack of knowledge. All right. That’s the Law of Moses. Then finally, the only other law, sets of
laws, that God ever gave to humanity, departed humanity, would be the Law of Christ. Paul speaks about the Law of Christ in various
places in his epistles, and it’s not a singular one law, single law. It’s everything that Christ commanded. In fact, remember he said this, “Go into all
the world. Make disciples. Teach them to obey all that I’ve commanded
you.” Of course, if you read through the gospels,
you’ll see that a lot of what Christ commanded them, is basic moral stuff that you find in
the Law of Moses. Of course, also in the Law of Conscience. In the Sermon on the Mount, he straightened
out a lot of twisted teachings from the Pharisees and scribes, regarding those basic, basic
moral principles, of just telling the truth, and don’t commit adultery, and don’t steal,
and so forth. All right? That’s the Law of Christ. That was given to anyone who decides to follow
Christ, and it begins with … The first thing to do is to get baptized, that’s what Christ
said to do, and then following Him, obeying His commandments, as they’re outlined by Christ. You can search for a lot of the laws that
Moses gave in the gospels, and you won’t find them, because they’re not in the Law of Christ. You can look for them also in the epistles,
written by the apostles, and you won’t find some of those … many of those laws of Moses,
but you will find the laws of Christ. Of course, you will find the moral, ethical
laws of Moses. That’s why sometimes the apostles in the epistles
quote from the 10 Commandments, or they quote, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” That’s an Old Covenant law, the Law of Moses,
but it’s included in the New Covenant under the Law of Christ. Now, I can prove all this by just showing
you three verses from 1st Corinthians, Chapter 9. This is Paul writing to the Corinthians about
his evangelistic strategies, and he said in Verse 19, “For though I am free of all men,
I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.” Now, he talks about a specific strategy to
reach the Jews. “To the Jews …” Now, he was a Jew, but he
said, “To the Jews I became as a Jew.” What does he mean? Well, you know, “I kept all the Law of Moses
hanging around the Jews.” He said it another way in the very next phrase
here. “To those who are under the law …” that’s
the Law of Moses, “As under the law.” Obviously of Moses, but then look what he
says next. “Though not being myself under the law.” See, I’m a Jew, but I’m not under the Law
of Moses, because I’m in Christ now, okay? The reason he did this, the reason he kept
the Law of Moses when he was hanging around the Jews, is so that, “I might win those who
are under the law.” That’s why you see Paul doing certain things
in the Book of Acts that are obviously Mosaic law oriented. He’s just trying not to offend the Jews that
he’s trying to win. Some people take those as proof, and say,
“Oh, Paul kept the Law of Moses.” Now you’re reading why he kept the Law of
Moses sometimes, because now in Verse number 21, he said, “To those who are without law
…” that’d have to be the gentiles, “I act …” I’m putting that in, “As without law
myself.” See, I’m not going to be keeping the Law of
Moses around the gentiles, because that would be a hindrance to them, because they think,
“Boy, is that what a Christian looks like? A guy who keeps all his ceremonial stuff and
all his ritualistic stuff? I don’t want to do that.” So Paul strips all that stuff away when he’s
hanging around the gentiles. Listen, what he says now, “Though not being
without the law of God, but under the Law of Christ.” There you have it. Paul, a Jew, believed he was not under the
Law of Moses, he was under the Law of Christ. Are you obligated to keep the Law of Moses? No, only keep the Law of Christ, but in keeping
the Law of Christ, you will keep the moral and ethical laws of Moses, and you will keep,
of course, the Law of Conscience. Thanks so much for asking that question. God bless you.

  1. Moses was the giver of the virtues to/of Israel, so that is what they keep. Someone could say powers instead of virtues.

The law of Moses is for the people that lives in the world as a collective, a unity in earth.
The law of Jesus talks about life as a collective after baptism but immediately he points out the idea of becoming an individuality once again getting out from the tribe as also being part of it while in the process.

Jesus states himself as the continuation of the tradition of Israel by being one next prophet along with the others (moses, etc).So thats why he says to be the Alpha and Omega, the one individual and the one with the whole collective but also presenting himself as the next doctrine. (the idea of alpha and omega is not only from the new pact but also from Isaiah)

So the world tribe of Moses will ever have to go through the new pact (Jesus doctrine) in order to really fulfill the path of life or will do it only by Moses law?

  2. The Scriptures are open for the ones with eyes to see and ears to hear. The continue sacrifice that is going to be taken away is Master YAHSHUA the anti messiah is going to decieve a great amount to reject Master YAHSHUA and then Abba YAHWEH's Grace is going to leave the earth and then the anti messiah is going to have right to torture the true believers in Master YAHSHUA to test them if they will really reject the mark of the beast (The system of Babylon) 666 the Hebrew value for that number is the old letter for 6 and that is w now put 3 w's next to each other and its "www" the world wide web… The enternet all the stuff on the enter net is going to make a big amount of people reject Master YAHSHUA and the Torah the way to truth the perfect instructions for a perfect life, think about it how many Commandments do people brake on tbe internet daily, when you look at a naked woman popping up its lusting, when you see something pops up of something to buy and you can't afford it, its coveting if you share something thats fake news it's laying and so many sins that the internet brings its the perfect weapon of satan today of believers is Messiah i use the internet too and try my best to avoid evil….. The Scriptures are clear who will not make the Kingdom and satan knows that that is why i say its the perfect silence weapon…. 1 Cor 6:  9  Or do you not know that unjust ones will not inherit the kingdom of Elohim? Do not be led astray, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the corrupt, nor homosexuals,

10  nor thieves, nor covetous ones, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists shall inherit the kingdom of Elohim.

The Scriptures is our prove many people are reading over the vers……
Luke 17:  22  And He said to the disciples, Days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and will not see.

23  And they will say to you, Lo, here! Or, Lo, there! Do not go away, nor follow.

24  As for flashes lightning from heaven, and all that is under heaven is lit. Such will be the Son of Man in His day.

25  But first it is necessary that He suffer many things and be REJECTED by that generation.
and do your own study Master YAHSHUA was talking about believers not the world. The continual sacrifice in Daniel is Master YAHSHUA Messiah's Sacrifice for the whole world and the abomination of desolation is the rejection and blaspheming of the Holy Spirit and the rejection of the Lamb of YAH that is why Master YAHSHUA told us that its impossible to come back after we have blaspheme the Holy Spirit because we putting Master YAHSHUA back on the torture stake and that is a one way ticket to the lake of fire. Brothers and Susters the only way to the Truth is the living Torah "Master YAHSHUA Messiah the living word of Almighty El-Shaddai Abba YAHWEH.
1 John 2:  3  And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments.

4  The one saying, I have known Him, and not keeping His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in that onenote.

5  But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of YAHWEH has been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.

6  The one claiming to rest in Him, ought to walk, himself, even as He walked note.

7  Brothers, I do not write a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word which you have heard from the beginning.
1 John 5: 1  Everyone believing that Yahshua is the Messiah has been regenerated from YAHWEH. And everyone who loves Him who begets, also loves the one who has been begotten of Him.

2  By this we know that we love the children of Elohim: When we love YAHWEH and keep His commandments.

3  For this is the love of YAHWEH, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not a burden to us.

I truly know that the Torah is forever because Master YAHSHUA Messiah is the living Torah a SINLESS LAMB OF YAH. The book of Revaluation makes it absolutely clear who will make it in to Abba YAHWEH's coming Kingdom….
Rev 14: 12  Here is the patience of the saints; here are the ones keeping the commandments of YAHWEH, and the faith of Yahshua.
It is quite clear by this time the true believers in Master YAHSHUA is keeping the Torah in faith and obedience to the ONE who wrote it. Rev 19: 13, 1 John 1-3, 14
Any one who believes that the Torah is nailed to the cross is taking away the Continual Sacrifice of Master YAHSHUA and is rejecting Master YAHSHUA and is helping to bring the man of sin to earth because he hates Almighty YAHWEH's living Torah because there are no light in him and so many people today is believing in the GREATEST LIE Paul say it so clearly in 2 Thes 2: 3  Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, because that Day will not come unless first there comes a great rebellion note, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

4  the one opposing and exalting himself over everything being called Elohim, or object of reverence, so as for him "To sit in the sanctuary of Elohim" as an El, and sets himself forth, as if he is an Elohim.

5  Do you not remember that I told you these things, when I was with you?

6  And now you know what has prevented him, for being revealed in his time.

7  For the mystery of lawlessness is already working, until He who is now the obstacle, is taken out of the way.

8  And then "THE LAWLESS ONE" will be exposed, "whom our Master Yahshua will consume by the spirit of His mouth," and will destroy by the brightness of His presence.

9  His coming is due to the working of Satan in all power and miraculous signs and lying wonders,

10  and in all deceit of unrighteousness in those who will perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth in order for them to be saved.

11  And because of this, YAHWEH will send to them a working of deception, for them to believe "THE LIE",

12  that those not believing in the truth, but who have delighted in unrighteousness all may be damned.

13  But we ought to thank YAHWEH always concerning you, brothers, beloved by YAHWEH, because YAHWEH chose you from the beginning to salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and through a true faith,

14  to which He called you through our preaching, to be the glory of our Master Yahshua Messiah.

15  So, then, brothers, stand firm and strongly hold the commandments you were taught, whether by word or by our epistle.
This is words from Almighty YAH to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear…..
Isaiah 2: 2  And it shall be in the last days, the mountain note of the house of YAHWEH shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and ALL NATIONS(Every person that is still alive on earth) shall FLOW into it.

3  And MANY people shall go and say, Come and let us go up to the mount of YAHWEH, to the house of the Elohim of Jacob. And He will teach from His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For out of Zion the "TORAH" will go forth, and the Word of YAHWEH from Jerusalem note.

4  And He shall judge among the nations and shall rebuke many people. And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more.

5  Oh house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of YAHWEH.
Now the question is do so many still believe that the LAW is nailed to the cross????
This is what the the book of proverbs say not my words words in the Holy Bible…. And this is SCARY
Proverbs 28: 9  Whoever turns aside his ear from hearing the TORAH (THE LAW) , even his prayer is ABOMINATION!!!!! . note (Pr 15:8, Ps 109:7)

  3. Moses was laying out a set of rules for US, to show US how to achieve peace of mind and a full life. Then came Jesus, who showed US how to invite the "spirit of love" (wholey spirit) into our bodies. When we posses the spirit of love, following the 10 commandments is natural and instinctive. And the "spirit of love" also has the additional benefit of creating joy, beauty and harmony with it's magic.

  4. Yahwahshua was the living breathing Torah. He obeyed his Abba YHWH. We are supposed to learn the 613+ laws. There are a total of 759 laws we need to learn!
